The you inside your head is less you than you might think Thinking is the problem and it’s causing quite a stink I think therefore I am, yet thoughts are products of the brain I fart therefore I am could be said in similar vein Our thoughts become the soundtrack to this awe-filled, wondrous life Yet to take them at their word will often lead to strife That I am and that you are was once more then enough Now our brains are overflowing with all this anxious stuff: I earn less so I’m a loser It cuts deep so I am weak This isn’t where I’m meant to be I’m not heard so I won’t speak Yet these thoughts are all conditioned, by the world we grew up in You can’t think past all the thoughts to the you that lives within Thinking is the brick wall you built around your soul Unbuild it brick by brick to find the you that’s always whole The you that is the stillness, the peace within this place Contented just to be here, not lost within the race

Thanks joining me for another Sunday rhyme time. Hope this one brought a little smile and a little peace. I’ve been reading a lot of Eckhart Tolle lately, and it’s amazing how much peace can be found by changing your internal state.
I do like his work. Detachment from thoughts is my goal, so noisy in here somedays 🙂

Same! Though much improved from where I was.
I heard a podcast with a Buddhist monk who said he’d actually reached the point where he had no thoughts most of them time…just space…imagine that!

Yes, a good goal but in my case a struggle 🙂

I think in all our cases, all we ca do is keep trying (or not try so hard!)

Lovely – I especially like “Unbuild it brick by brick to find the you that’s always whole
The you that is the stillness, the peace within this place
Contented just to be here, not lost within the race”..beautiful, thank you!

You’re a deep thinker, Rae.. I’m still intrigued.
Bad thing about it is that I really resonated with this. I often feel like a prisoner of my mind.

I’m working on not being a deep thinker, some days I get there, some days not! I think the important thing to remember is you’re not alone, there’s loads of deep thinkers out there, they just don’t think out loud (though occasionally you might be able to spot them by their distractedness or general air of discomfort akin to constipation 😉)
